Trump Says he will release Kennedy Center board members and place himself as chairman
On Friday President Trump declared his objective that he will be releasing few of the Kennedy Center board members and placing himself as chairman
Trump post on his social media handle (Truth Social) saying “At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN,”
Trump said he will “immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture.”
The board is divided between Republican and Democratic representatives and has 36 members appointed by the president, each to six years of service. Trump did not say which and how many members he plans to release from their service.
He then added: “We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, President of US , Trump.”
The Kennedy Centre officials said that they “received no official communications from the White House regarding changing or releasing any member from the board.” but they know that “Some of our board members have been told by the administration that their positions are being ended.”
The Kennedy Centre and the world of arts are astonished by this news. In just short time Mr. Trump saying to the world that he will be taking over Kennedy Center, Gaza strip who knows what he will be taking over next.
David Rubenstein, philanthropic and co founder of Carlyle Group, has been in his position for more than 13 years. In January 2025 he announced his retirement but since Mr.Trump rule, Deborah Ruttler, President of Kennedy Center since 2014 declared that he would stay in the role until September 2026.
The former President Joe Biden elected a few new members to the board of Kennedy Centre, including former White House press secretary Karine Jean–Pierre. Among these new members elected by Joe Biden at least one member received notification from Sergio Gor about his service which will soon be ended.
Pam Bondi, his attorney general, and Elaine Chao who were elected by Trump during his first term, Elain Chao who is married to the current Senator of U.S.
Mr. Trump has had a rocky history with the Kennedy Center since his first term when he and First Lady Melania Trump decided not to attend the 2017 Kennedy Center Honors. This happened after some award winners said they might refuse to go. But now the leader of Kennedy Center has recently expressed an opinion about President Trump, saying the first lady, who serves as an honorary chairman, feels the need to reconnect with the center.
